David Lynch, 24, was wanted for the shooting death of 26-year-old John Abreu DePina Jr. in Brockton last year. State police added Lynch to their “Most Wanted” list back in March.

Troopers spotted Lynch behind the wheel of a car in the parking lot of a Holiday Inn in Middleboro, according to police. As soon as he saw the troopers, police said Lynch rammed two cruisers and sped off down Route 44.

The troopers say they briefly chased Lynch before losing sight of his vehicle.

Lynch then hit another car at the intersection of Orchard and Warren streets in Raynham a short time later, according to police. He and his passenger got out and ran off after the crash, police said, but they were chased down and taken into custody.

Police said the driver of the second vehicle, a 32-year-old woman from Taunton, was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. She was still listed in serious condition Friday morning.

Lynch and his passenger, identified as 23-year-old Demarje Taylor of Chelsea, were also taken to the hospital with injuries that didn’t appear to be life-threatening, according to police.

Lynch was transferred to Boston Medical Center Thursday night and remains under police guard.

After Taylor was released from the hospital, police said he was arraigned on gun possession charges after officers found two firearms inside Lynch’s vehicle.

Lynch will eventually be charged with murder and armed assault in a dwelling, police said, along with a litany of drug and gun offenses, stemming from the homicide investigation. He and Taylor will also be charged in connection with the chase and crash.
