JOHNSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Police in Johnston are investigating a triple shooting early Wednesday morning, Mayor Joseph Polisena Jr. confirms.

Officials responded to Ligian Court around 7:30 a.m.

Rhode Island State Police Col. Darnell Weaver told 12 News the suspect, identified by the mayor as James Harrison, has been shot on the Cranston/Johnston line.

He was transported to the hospital and his current condition is unknown.

Target 12 has learned multiple law enforcement agencies engaged with the suspect in Cranston.

State Police and the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office are involved in an officer-involved shooting investigation.

Exit 6 on I-295 is currently blocked off.
