EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Autism Project‘s executive director Joanne Quinn joined 12 News at 4 on Monday to discuss how to help keep nonverbal children safe.

A 4-year-old boy in South Boston who was autistic and nonverbal was tragically found dead after he went missing at a public park Sunday night.

Quinn shared some resources to prevent “elopement,” which she said is when autistic children wander off without realizing they may be in danger:
