CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Cranston police have arrested three people accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail at a parked van with people inside.

Officers rushed to Greenwood Street just before 2 a.m. on April 27 after a caller reported the incident.

Home surveillance video shows an object being thrown at the van from a passing car, causing what appears to be a small explosion. The flaming object then falls to the pavement as the driver of the van takes off toward the car.

The van followed the car for a few blocks before the driver decided to pull over and call police, officials said.

No injuries were reported.

Police said they tracked down the suspect vehicle using the city’s license plate recognition cameras. Inside the vehicle, detectives found items connected to the suspected Molotov cocktail.

Drew Rappoport, 19, of Coventry, and Brianna Wischnowsky, 20, of Warwick, were arrested Wednesday along with a juvenile male, according to police. They were each charged with three counts of felony assault with a dangerous weapon, fifth-degree arson, and conspiracy.
