The annual fundraising campaign for local organizations by United Way of Rhode Island was a huge success this year, collecting over $3.4 million. 401Gives, which usually takes place on April 1, hosted a fundraising weekend for the first time instead of a single day, resulting in more than 22,700 gifts from at least 15,183 different donors to 546 different charities and nonprofits around the state. The Audobon Society, Foster Forward, and Children’s Friend received the most donations, totaling nearly $137,500, over $220,200, and more than $90,700 respectively. United Way President and CEO Cortney Nicolato praised the generosity of Rhode Islanders, stating that they never disappoint.
