A woman passed away on Monday in Cumberland, Rhode Island as a result of an incident involving a backyard fire pit, according to the local police. 60-year-old Deborah Engels was found by emergency crews on Mayflower Drive and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Cumberland Police Department expressed their condolences to Engels’ family and friends in a statement, while the fire marshal has been brought in to aid the investigation.
