The ACLU’s Drag Defense Fund received a boost from an event held at The Stable bar in Providence, Rhode Island, on Sunday. The Trailer Park Girls, Black Sheep Babes, and Drag in RI were amongst several groups that performed at the event to protest proposed anti-LGBTQ+ legislation in Tennessee. The event’s organizer, Jones, stressed the need to help those affected by such bills. The event was supported by Rhode Island Congressman Seth Magaziner, who argued that policymakers should concentrate on issues like healthcare, education, and housing, rather than attacking the LGBTQ+ community. On Saturday, a federal judge in Tennessee blocked one of the controversial bills.
