The city of Pawtucket has hired Charles “Chachi” Carvalho as their first-ever chief equity officer. Carvalho, who grew up in Pawtucket and recently worked as the cultural and community engagement coordinator at Shea High School, aims to work with other city leaders to create a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive vision for Pawtucket. Through his work, he hopes to inspire young people to become more civically engaged and to empower children to reach their full potential. Carvalho expressed his gratitude for the opportunities and resources he has had and hopes to honor his family’s legacy and inspire others to do good.
