In East Providence, Rhode Island, 20 rabbits were rescued from a Cranston apartment earlier this month by the Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA). The neglected rabbits were found living in stacked dog crates in unbearable conditions, with most of them in urgent need of veterinary attention. With the majority of rabbits now healthy, the RISPCA is hosting an adoption and education event at Rumford Pet Express in East Providence this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The RISPCA is also offering stuffed toy rabbits for adoption in exchange for a $10 donation, and attendees can learn more about adopting live rabbits. The event was organised due to a rise in “small animal” relinquishments, and in preparation for Easter, during which rabbits are often given as gifts.
