On 401Gives Day, Rhode Islanders have the opportunity to donate to the nonprofits that make a difference in their community. This year’s event is the first-ever “weekend edition” since April 1 falls on a Saturday. Interested donors can find a full list of participating organizations and sort by causes on 401gives.org. Last year’s event raised $3.1 million for over 500 organizations, and this year’s goal is to break $4 million. A variety of prizes and donation matches and challenges are available for certain donation amounts. United Way of Rhode Island will transform its Providence headquarters into the central hub for activities. Donors can also enjoy a special WaterFire lighting on Saturday at 7 p.m.
