Sig’s Place in Middletown, Rhode Island, a deli and catering business that has been serving customers for nearly a century, will close this weekend. Co-owner Shawn Margolis expressed mixed emotions about the closing, stating that he is both excited and sad. The deli has been Margolis’ home away from home since 2010, and his family has been in the business for over 90 years. Their shop started as a small store in Newport slicing meat to help families survive the Great Depression. While Sig’s Place will be closing, the shop will reopen as a new deli with a new name, menu, and owner, called The Roasted Clove.
