The Nashville Predators’ defenseman Ryan McDonagh was absent from the team’s flight to Boston as he stayed home to be with his three young daughters in the shaken community after a fatal grade school shooting in Nashville that left six dead, including three children. McDonagh caught a commercial flight to Boston and assisted the Predators in their 2-1 win against the Bruins. McDonagh’s daughters, who are all under nine years old, have their school close to the shooting location, and their school was in lockdown. Both teams wore helmet stickers to remember the victims during the game. The Bruins also held a moment of silence before the national anthem. The teams showed support for The Covenant School, which lost three 9-year-old students and three adult staffers. The Nashville team is trying to make a run at the eighth and final playoff spot and won for just the third time in eight games.
