The R.I. Department of Education (RIDE) will provide funding to 21 community-based organizations to support enrichment programs for students, using almost $4 million from American Rescue Plan Act funding, according to officials. The programs will aim to address learning gaps in Rhode Island students and provide “enrichment activities and academic supports” after school and year-round. Governor Dan McKee’s administration also promised to match the grants, awarding an additional $4 million to schools within the state budget. Recipients of the grants include organizations in East Providence, Central Falls, Newport, Providence, Woonsocket, and Warwick. The programs are set to begin in the fall.
