
A shooting took place at The Covenant School in Nashville on Monday, resulting in the deaths of three students and three adults. The shooter, a teenage girl armed with two assault rifles and a pistol, also died after being shot by police. The Covenant School is a Presbyterian school with about 200 students from preschool through sixth grade. The victims were declared dead upon arrival at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The school is situated in the affluent Green Hill neighborhood, close to top universities and the famous Bluebird Café. The school website features the motto “Shepherding Hearts, Empowering Minds, Celebrating Childhood.” The shooting is one of many recent incidents of school violence in the US.
