The Budlong Community Pool in Cranston, RI is set to be revitalized and reopened, according to Mayor Ken Hopkins. The mayor has described the redevelopment as a multi-phase project, with plans to include a scaled-down pool and an accessible bathhouse. The pool has been closed for three years due to the pandemic and lack of allocated funding in the city budget. The estimated cost of the first phase is $3.5 million, with funding coming from the American Rescue Plan Act and congressional grants. Future phases of renovations could include a splash pad and a pickleball court. Mayor Hopkins hopes to make the pool area multi-dimensional and open for more than just eight weeks in the summer. Construction has already begun, with plans for the pool to reopen in the summer of 2024.
