Rhode Island FC, the state’s new minor-league soccer team, is assuring fans that games will happen in 2024 despite uncertainties surrounding the troubled Tidewater Landing project in Pawtucket. In a letter to potential season ticket holders, team president Brett Luy acknowledged that the team is considering alternate venues while construction of the Tidewater stadium progresses. The Pawtucket Redevelopment Authority had planned to issue $27 million in bonds to help pay for the stadium, but has placed the move on hold. Although there are questions about how long the private money will last, state officials remain confident the project will continue.
