A cherished bowling alley in Johnston, Rhode Island is set to close its doors on May 12. Town Hall Lanes, which first opened in 1959 and has been home to many competitive leagues, is a place of great significance to the community. Despite the difficult decision to close, it was necessary due to the condition and upkeep of the building. General manager Paul Norato, who has worked at the alley for over 20 years, expressed his sadness at the closure and how it feels like a second home to him. The closure has also been heart-breaking for league members, many of whom grew up bowling at Town Hall Lanes. Bookkeeper Lori Richardson noted that significant plumbing repairs would make it impossible to continue operating the alley. She encourages everyone to visit Town Hall Lanes prior to its closure and take home some memories.
