On National Medal of Honor Day, South Kingstown held a dedication and remembrance ceremony to honor their community as a Medal of Honor town. Governor Dan McKee and Senator Jack Reed attended the event at the high school as part of the town’s 300th anniversary celebration. The ceremony recognized South Kingstown’s three Medal of Honor recipients and remembered their five missing in action service members. Gov. McKee stated that Rhode Island is fortunate to be home to over 60,000 veterans, and Sen. Reed emphasized the importance of recognizing and remembering those who earned America’s highest military honor. The post includes images of the Medal of Honor recipients and the town’s proclamation.
