A marijuana facility may be coming to Swansea, Massachusetts as voters give overwhelming support for a retail shop in the area. A special meeting was held Thursday night to change zoning laws and create a Marijuana Establishment Overlay District for two parcels of land on Route 6. This move comes in response to Northeastcann Inc.’s application for a license to operate a dispensary at the former site of Suzuki Triumph Dealership, situated across from Target. The overlay district does not affect existing zoning restrictions and simply allows for the construction of marijuana establishments in the designated area.
“We are presenting what we believe to be the premiere location in the town which has safe access with the existing light system right there,” said Nicholas Gomes, the attorney representing Northeastcann Inc.
