Ed Cooley will be introduced as the new men’s basketball coach at Georgetown University on Wednesday, following his decision to take the job leading the rival Hoyas. This marks an unprecedented move in Big East conference history. He will replace the previous coach, Patrick Ewing, who was fired after six seasons. Cooley has a record of 242-153, leading the Friars to seven NCAA Tournament appearances, a trip to the Sweet 16, a 2022 Big East regular season title and a 2014 Big East Tournament Title. He took to social media to thank Providence and its fans for a memorable journey. While some responses were negative, others wished him good luck. Meanwhile, Providence is still searching for Cooley’s replacement. Updates to follow.
