Nick Autiello, an international climate strategist and former General Assembly candidate, has announced his decision to run for the primary election to replace Congressman David Cicilline in the state of Rhode Island. Born in North Providence, Autiello has worked for R.I. Commerce Corp. and held several roles in global efforts to address climate change. The declared contender for the congressional seat has lived in Providence with his husband, Eric, and served on the campaign board of the LGBTQ Victory Fund, a critical political group. Autiello is running against two other prominent Democrats, Lt. Gov. Sabina Matos and state Sen. Sandra Cano, among other contenders, as no Republican has launched a campaign for the seat yet.
