The recent gas price drop in Rhode Island and Massachusetts has been reported by AAA Northeast. Both states have seen a 2 cent decrease from last week, with the average price per gallon now at $3.27. Meanwhile, the national average has dropped 3 cents to $3.44 per gallon. According to Diana Gugliotta of AAA Northeast, the decline is due to the global oil price, which has fallen to $65 per barrel, a level last seen in December 2021. This drop has caused a reduction in gas prices as the cost of oil accounts for 55% of what is paid at the pump. The national average gas price shows a significant decrease of 81 cents in comparison to last year, and a modest increase of 3 cents from last month.
