A science class at the Moses Brown School in Providence, R.I., is tackling the issue of plastic pollution. Fourth-grade students in Elizabeth Grundach’s class have been studying the problem, including testing decomposability. Plastic pollution has garnered renewed attention in recent years, with important improvements in laws to tackle the issue. The class sent letters to their local elected officials, encouraging them to take action on legislation that would limit plastic waste in the environment. The students also studied biodegradable plastics as a solution to traditional, toxic plastics. The students strongly encouraged everyone to take action on this issue.
