Two K-9s from the Cranston Police Department in Rhode Island are set to receive custom-fitted bulletproof and stab-proof vests from the nonprofit organization, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., based in Taunton. The K-9s, named Ryken and Czar, will have their vests embroidered with “In memory of K-9 Lex,” who died from cancer in September 2022. Vested Interest has donated nearly 5,000 protective vests to K-9s across the country since its establishment in 2009. The vests are due to arrive in eight to ten weeks. Major Todd Patalano expressed his gratitude to Vested Interest for the donation, emphasizing the importance of K-9 safety and protection. Two photographs of the K-9s, courtesy of the Cranston Police Department, accompanied the article.
