The VR Zone at Providence Place mall was broken into earlier this month, and the suspect was caught on camera. Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the man who sneaked in the back door on March 5, 2023. The thief rummaged through the VR Zone display for approximately 20 minutes, taking cash from the register and five virtual reality headsets, each worth $500. VR Zone General Manager Clifford Wilson reported that the loss won’t be covered by insurance, posing a financial burden for replacing the equipment. Wilson is offering a reward of $500 for anyone who can help find the suspect or the stolen merchandise. Meanwhile, Brookfield Properties Retail, the company that owns Providence Place, assured that break-ins are “extremely infrequent” and that they have a robust security program in place.
