A man from New Bedford has been sentenced to serve six to eight years in prison after pleading guilty to assault charges. Talib Allah stabbed another man at a bus depot near Piccadilly Market on September 7, 2021. Reports suggest that Allah and the victim had previously dated the same woman. Allah, aged 37, fled the scene, and the victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital for treatment. Later, police were called to the scene of another alleged assault in New Bedford, where they found Allah with dried blood on his hands, belonging to the previous stabbing victim. The Bristol County District Attorney’s office stated that Allah was on probation for a previous violent incident, and he needs to be kept off the streets to protect the public from his propensity for violence.
