An alleged assault took place at a Walmart in Fairhaven resulting in the arrest of a New Bedford man. According to reports, the police were called regarding a fight around 11 p.m. on Tuesday. During the fight, 22-year-old Brandin Gonsalves is said to have taken out a gun and hit the victim with it. Three rounds of ammunition and a loaded magazine with additional rounds of ammunition were found at the scene. It is currently unclear whether any rounds were fired. Gonsalves has been charged with several offenses including assault with intent to kill and carrying a firearm without a license. The victim has been treated and released from the hospital.
