Gas prices have increased in most places in the United States over the past week, per AAA Northeast. Rhode Island saw a 5 cent rise, reaching $3.29 per gallon, while Massachusetts’ average price matched at $3.29. The national average increased by 7 cents to reach $3.47 per gallon. While the switch to summer blend gasoline may raise prices by 5-10 cents per gallon, AAA Northeast’s Diana Gugliotta says that low demand and oil costs may cause this recent price spike to dissipate. The national average gas price is now 85 cents lower than it was this time last year, and down 6 cents from a month ago.
