The state of Massachusetts has launched six mobile sportsbooks for betting on favorite teams via phone, just in time for the NCAA men’s basketball tournament. Betting became legal in January, but mobile betting was not immediately available. Betters cannot place wagers on any Massachusetts schools for college sports unless they are playing in a tournament involving four or more teams. According to FanDuel General Manager Karol Corcoran, Massachusetts is a desirable state for launching mobile betting because of its passionate sports fanbase. The state hopes to generate between $35 million to $50 million from sports betting. The National Problem Gambling Helpline Network is available 24/7 for those dealing with gambling issues.
