The Wyatt Detention Facility in Central Falls is holding Francisco Severo Torres, the Massachusetts man who was arrested for trying to open an emergency door and attempting to stab a flight attendant on a United Airlines flight that was about to land. Torres faces federal charges of interference and attempted interference with flight crew members and attendants using a dangerous weapon, which could result in a maximum sentence of life in prison, a fine of $250,000, and up to five years of supervised release. Torres had previously been arrested in 2017 for assaulting his mother and, more recently, for causing a disturbance at a barbershop. He is scheduled for a bail hearing on Thursday.
