A Tiverton school resource officer, Officer Jacob Rapoza, has been charged with simple assault and two counts of disorderly conduct after an internal investigation requested by the town’s police chief.

Rapoza has been a member of the department for six years and was suspended with pay since Dec. 23, but it is unclear as to why.

When 12 News reached out to Tiverton Police Chief Patrick Jones for more information, he stated he could not elaborate on the charges due to the Law Enforcement Officers’ Bill of Rights. Rapoza was arraigned and released on personal recognizance.
