An 81-year-old woman named Carolyn Preece, who was hit by a car while crossing Sconticut Neck Road in Fairhaven last week, passed away over the weekend at Saint Luke’s Hospital, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s office. The driver, a 67-year-old woman, has not been charged as they were not impaired by alcohol or drugs and did not have a cell phone on them during the incident. The victim was not in a crosswalk and was wearing dark clothing at the time of the accident. Although investigations are ongoing, the DA’s office referred to this as a tragic accident.
