A survey conducted by AAA found that most drivers are increasingly apprehensive of partially-automated vehicle technology. According to the annual survey, about 68% of drivers are afraid of self-driving vehicles, compared to 55% in 2022. This represents a 13% increase from the previous year and the largest increase since 2020. AAA believes that this points to the need for improvements to build public trust and knowledge surrounding emerging vehicle technology. The survey also revealed that one in 10 drivers believe they can buy a vehicle that drives itself while they sleep. However, no vehicles currently on the market allow the driver to fully disengage. AAA seeks to partner with automakers to create greater consistency across the industry and help consumers understand the technology their vehicle has.
