The state of Rhode Island has achieved an “important milestone” with over 90% of Rhode Islanders aged 18 and older receiving at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Governor Dan McKee set this goal during the early stages of the state’s vaccination campaign, and Rhode Island is now second in the US in terms of the percentage of its population fully vaccinated. The Governor thanked Rhode Islanders for their efforts and expressed confidence that the state would continue to lead the country in vaccinations and economic recovery. The Department of Health has reported that although some towns fall short of the state average, a significant proportion of eligible adults in each town have received at least one dose of a vaccine. Governor McKee has consistently linked vaccination rates to the state’s economic recovery, and he commented that the state is continuing to make progress in reducing cases, deaths and hospitalizations.
