Research Scholarship at The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Canberra

Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Canberra is looking for a Scientific Officer who is expected to start December 01, 2010.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Monitoring and analysing the scientific and research environment in Australia
• Assessing, reporting on and promoting the bilateral technological co-operation in ICT,
high technology and the applied research field between Germany and Australia
• Managing information on German and Australian scientific programmes
• Promoting Germany as a destination for education, science and research
• Maintaining relations with German scientists in Australia
• Liaising with scientific intermediary organisations in Germany
(such as DAAD, DFG, AvH)
• Communicating with German administrative offices and federal ministries
• Liaising with Australian government departments, research institutions and universities
Qualifications and Requirements
• Graduation from a German or Australian university and preferably experience in the academic field
• Very good command of written and spoken English and German
• Profound knowledge about science and research in Germany and Australia including industry promoted research
• Communication skills and ability to work in a team
• Organisational skills
• Motivation
This new job is offered, as of now, for one year only. Permanent employment is envisaged. Salary is based on remuneration regulations for local employees at German missions in Australia (approx.
