Department of Biological and Environmental Science is an internationally recognized research and teaching unit. The department covers Aquatic Sciences, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, Cell and Molecular Biology, and Environmental Science and Technology. The department houses the Finnish Center of Excellence in Evolutionary Research and part of the Finnish Centre of Excellence in Virus Research.
The department is currently seeking to recruit staff to the following positions:
1) Postdoctoral researchers (5-6 positions), starting from 1 January 2011 (contract length maximum of four years).
2) PhD students (3-4 positions), starting from 1 January 2011, (contract length maximum of four years).
Postdoctoral researchers and PhD students are being recruited in Aquatic Sciences, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and in Cell and Molecular Biology. Postdoctoral researchers are expected to focus on scientific research, but also to participate in teaching within their own areas of expertise. PhD students will work towards a doctoral degree at the University of Jyväskylä and have minor teaching tasks in the Department.

I am applying for Phd programme to the University concerned Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and in Cell and Molecular Biology. I graduated Bsc. and Msc. in Forestry from Sokoine University of Agriculture Morogoro, Tanzania. I am working with Forestry Training Institution as lecturer as well as reseacher and consultant. I have 25 yrs experience in the field of Forestry and Forest Industries.
