MLA Scholarship for Minority Students, USA
Scholarship for African-American, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, or Pacific Islander Candidates
The purpose of the Medical Library Association (MLA) Scholarship for Minority Students is to encourage candidates who show excellence in scholarship and potential for accomplishment in health sciences librarianship. The scholarship will be granted to a student who is entering a program at an ALA-accredited library school or continuing the study of health sciences librarianship at the master’s level. The recipient also receives a one-year student membership in MLA, and free, inclusive student registration at the association’s annual meeting.
Eligibility:

MLA Doctoral Fellowship 2011, USA
Doctoral Fellowship for USA and Canada Citizen, USA
The purpose of the Medical Library Association (MLA) Doctoral Fellowship is to foster and encourage superior students to conduct doctoral work in health sciences librarianship or information science by providing support to individuals who have been admitted to candidacy. The award was established by Thomson ISI and is administered by the Medical Library Association. The award is granted bi-annually. The next scheduled date of distribution is 2010.
The MLA Doctoral Fellowship will support research or travel applicable to the completion of a doctoral project in an area of health science librarianship or information science.

Postdoctoral Position, Yale School of Public Health, USA
Fellowship for PhD Students in Epidemiology and Biostatistics Subjects
Applications are invited for a post-doctoral position at Yale University to work on an NIH-funded research project investigating how exposure to ambient air pollution during pregnancy affects risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes (e.g., birth weight, pre-term delivery). The postdoctoral appointment will be joint between the School of Public Health and the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. Research will include statistical analysis of data on pregnancies, weather, and air pollution, and may involve application of alternate exposure methods, such as land-use regression modeling or satellite imagery.
Applicants should have knowledge of epidemiology and biostatistics and must have a Ph.D. in ab related field (e.g., Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Environmental Health Sciences). Applicants should have experience with statistical analysis of large datasets for epidemiological studies. Experience with air pollution, pregnancy outcomes, and/or exposure estimation is preferred. Knowledge of R or SAS is required; knowledge of both is preferred. Written and verbal fluency in English is required. Applicants should have the ability to work independently and in group settings. The Omidyar Postdoctoral Fellowship, USA
Postdoctoral Fellowship for International Students, USA
Omidyar Fellowship at the Santa Fe Institute is unique among postdoctoral appointments. The Institute has no formal programs or departments. Research is collaborative and spans the physical, natural, and social sciences. Most research is theoretical and/or computational in nature, although may include an empirical component. SFI averages 15 resident faculty, 95 external faculty, and 250 visitors per year. Cunningham Memorial International Fellowship, USA
Fellowship of Medical Library Association for Undergraduate Degree and a Master’s Level Degree Student, USA
The purpose of the Cunningham fellowship is to assist in the education and training of health science librarians from countries outside the United States and Canada. The MLA Cunningham Memorial International Fellowships were established in 1967 with a bequest from the estate of Eileen R. Cunningham. The first fellowship was awarded in 1972 at the annual meeting in San Diego, CA. Since 1972, more than 34 fellows from around the globe have participated in Cunningham fellowships. This program continues to train and motivate international librarians with the latest advances in the health information profession.

Dean’s Postdoctoral Fellowships, USA
Postdoctoral Fellowship for Stanford University Candidates
Dean’s Postdoctoral Fellowships encourage and support young investigators in the first one or two years of their postdoctoral (Ph.D. or M.D.) research training. These fellowships are awarded to postdoctoral scholars in order to carry on postdoctoral research training in the Stanford University School of Medicine and who are under the mentorship of faculty in the School of Medicine. With the goal to support current postdocs at Stanford and to facilitate the recruitment of new postdoctoral scholars, the partial support of a Dean’s fellowship is often used as “seed” money while outside funds are sought, providing up to $21,500 in stipend for one year.
The Dean’s Postdoctoral Fellowship Committee holds two meetings per year: one in November for awards to start in the following January through December, and in May for awards to cover the following July through June. Read the rest of this entry »
WAPPP/International Security Program Fellowship, Harvard Kennedy School, USA
2010-11 Women and Public Policy Program -International Security Program Fellowship, Harvard Kennedy School, USA
In the academic year 2010-2011, the Women and Public Policy Program at the Harvard Kennedy School will be awarding one postdoctoral residential fellowship to an outstanding scholar in security affairs from the United States or elsewhere working to promote basic research in the broad area of international security with a particular focus on issues relating to gender. This fellow must hold a Ph.D. by September 2010. The fellow will hold his or her fellowship jointly with the International Security Program (ISP) of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs (Belfer Center).
For 2008-2009, the fellowship was awarded to Dr. Megan Mackenzie, a political scientist who will conduct a comparative analysis of the existing policies and programs created to address children born of war time rape and AIDS orphans in Sierra Leone and Uganda. Read the rest of this entry »
