Employer: Oak Ridge National Laboratory
Level: Postdoctoral Research Associate

The Oak Ridge National Laboratory invites applications for postdoctoral and post-master’s term appointments in the Computer Science Research Group of the Computer Science and Mathematics Division. Opportunities are anticipated in several of the group’s projects, in both research and software development roles, and more than one appointment may be considered.
The Group’s research covers a broad spectrum of areas associated with high-performance parallel and distributed computing and interacts strongly with large-scale applications in several scientific fields, including computational biology, plasma physics, computational chemistry, and climate modeling. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

-Operating systems
-Compilers
-Computer architectures
-Component middleware for HPC
-Software testing infrastructures
-Deployment and maintenance of distributed/grid software environments
-Interface contracts, design by contract methodologies
-Fault tolerance for systems- and application-level software, and algorithms Read the rest of this entry »

Considerable
Considerable knowledge of code development, optimization, and running of large-scale parallel scientific applications.
Considerable interest in high-performance computing, including a strong interest in the computational science to be done.

Postdoctoral Position: Transcriptional/Epigenetic Gene Regulation in Breast Cancer

Description:
We are seeking a Post Doctoral Fellow to study transcriptional and epigenetic regulation of gene expression in breast cancer at the Department of Cancer and Cell Biology, University of Cincinnati.  Located at the state-of-art Vontz Center for Molecular Studies of the College of Medicine, Dr. Xiaoting Zhang’s laboratory currently focuses on elucidating molecular mechanisms of gene- and tissue- specific transcriptional cofactors [Mol Cell 19:89-100, PNAS (2010) 107: 6765, PNAS (2010) 107:10196] in mammary stem cells (MaSCs) fate determination and breast cancer by using a combination of biochemical, molecular as well as mouse genetic (conditional knockout and mutant knockin) approaches.  We are also heavily interested in developing RNA-based nano-therapeutics to target these cofactors for the treatment of human breast cancer.  Interested applicants must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. degree with research experience in biochemistry, molecular or cellular biology.  Prior experience with animal studies is a plus.  Salary is competitive with an attractive benefits package.
