TWAS-USM Postdoctoral Fellowships are tenable in the departments, institutions and laboratories of the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) for a minimum period of twelve (12) months to a maximum period of three years and are awarded to young scientists from developing countries (other than Malaysia) to enable them to pursue advanced research in the natural sciences. USM will provide a standard monthly allowance which should be used to cover living costs, such as accommodation and food.The language of instruction is English.

Postdoctoral Fellowship program for scientists from developing countries (other than Malaysia) who wish to pursue advanced research in natural sciences
TWAS-USM Visiting Scholar Fellowships in natural sciences are tenable for a minimum period of one month to a maximum of three months at a school/department of the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). For a complete list of schools and departments at USM .USM will provide a standard monthly allowance which should be used to cover living costs, such as accommodation, food and health insurance. The monthly stipend will not be convertible into foreign currency.
Eligibility
Applicants for these Fellowships must meet the following criteria:
* Be a maximum age of 55 years on 31 December of the application year.
* Be nationals of a developing country (other than Malaysia).

Post Doctoral Research Fellow, Political Economy of Fisheries & Aquaculture Development, WorldFish Headquarters, Penang, Malaysia
The WorldFish Center seeks an outstanding early-career scholar with broad vision and individual ambition but strong teamwork and research support skills to contribute to the work of its Policy, Economics and Social Science (PESS) group. The successful candidate will work within PESS, but also across the Natural Resource Management (NRM) and Aquaculture (AQ) groups to advance a political economy analysis of fisheries and aquaculture development, focused on the least developed countries of Africa, Asia and the Pacific. This work intends to inform on-going fisheries governance reforms and aquaculture growth strategies, helping to ensure that they contribute effectively to reducing poverty and hunger in countries with significant fish production opportunities.
The position is for two years initially, and is potentially renewable for a further three. Although the position is envisaged to be largely desk-based for the first 12 months, and we place a premium on theoretical and analytical abilities, candidates who also have skills and interest in field-based research are encouraged to apply, as there are existing opportunities for field research, and it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be supported to develop an independent research programme during the second year of tenure.

Malaysia : Scholarship Programs to International Student to Pursue in Malaysia
The Scholarship Division of the Ministry of Higher Education provides several scholarship programmes to international students to pursue their higher education in Malaysia. The financial aid provided by the Scholarship Division, MOHE are:
i) Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan
- The Malaysian Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan are awarded by the Malaysian Government to the nominated students from the Commonwealth countries to study at the post-graduate level in Malaysia.
- Applicants must have a minimum standard of upper second class honours or CGPA of 3.5/4.0 at bachelor’s degree level. In addition, applicants for Ph.D must possess very good result at Master degree level in a similar field of intended Ph.D study.
