Research Studentship in Solution Processable Thin Film Organic Photovoltaic, Malaysia

Research scholarship for doctoral studies at the University of Malaya

Vacancies for a research project to fabricate new generation of organic photovoltaic (OPV) capable of harnessing energy from visible to near infrared light is available. Two positions are available (Physics and Chemistry). The physicist would fabricate photovoltaic devices using novel narrow bandgap liquid crystalline mesogen synthesized by Chemists in University of Malaya and our collaborator from Department of Advanced Material Sciences, Kagawa University, Japan. The tested materials would involve metallomesogens, carbon nanotube, functionalized graphene and other promising photovoltaic materials. The novel material and device are expected to interesting physics such as exhibit multiple carriers generation from a single photon and hot carrier generation. The objective is to provide a proof of principle of OPV of efficiency higher than 10%.
