Fay Marles Scholarship (FMS) 2010, University of Melbourne, Australia
Fay Marles Scholarship (FMS),Graduate Students,University of Melbourne,Australia
The Fay Marles Scholarship is awarded to applicants wishing to undertake graduate research studies at the University who are of Indigenous Australian descent and/or who have had their tertiary studies adversely affected by personal circumstances.
Number
The University of Melbourne offers up to eight Fay Marles Scholarships each year.
Eligibility criteria
1. Applicants must plan have applied for, or be currently enrolled in, a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne.
*FMSs cannot be awarded to support studies towards a graduate coursework degree, graduate diploma or postgraduate certificate.
2. Applicants seeking an FMS must have completed tertiary studies that are at least equivalent to a 4-year Australian Honours degree with a minimum grade average of a high H2A (ie. upper second class average which equates to 78-79% at the University of Melbourne.)

The Aged Care Nursing Scholarship Scheme is an Australian Government initiative aimed at encouraging more people to enter aged care nursing, particularly in regional, rural and remote Australia.
How to apply
The Aged Care Nursing Scholarship Scheme – undergraduate application form will become available online once the scheme opens.
Value of scholarship
The Scheme provides financial assistance of up to $5,000 per semester, to a maximum of $30,000 per applicant, to assist in meeting costs incurred while studying undergraduate nursing. Scholarships will be available to students in any year of an undergraduate nursing degree.
Criteria
The scholarships are only available for courses leading to a qualification to practice as a Registered/Division 1 nurse. Up to 10 of these scholarships are designated for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants. Read the rest of this entry »

The Fellowships are extremely prestigious and highly competitive. Applicants must have an outstanding track record relative to opportunity in order to be short-listed.The Fellowships aim to generate research outcomes that will benefit society, strengthen the research profile of UTS and its areas of research strength and excellence, and equip Fellows for research careers.
In 2011, the Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Research Fellowship Scheme will award Fellowships with the aim of building research capacity in areas of strategic importance to UTS. The Group of Eight offers eight annual fellowships to early career researchers in Europe to work in Go8 universities for up to six months. Each Fellowship is worth AUD 20,000.
The Fellowships are open to eligible researchers in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia.
The Go8 European Fellowship scheme recognises the importance of international contacts for early career researchers. It is envisaged that Fellows will continue to collaborate with Australian research partners when they return to their home institutions.

The Dr Thelma Bessell-Brown Scholarship was established in honour of Dr Leo Leriche’s late wife Dr Thelma Bessell-Browne. Thelma was a teacher who dedicated her whole life to education, with a strong focus on reading and literacy in particular. The Dr Thelma Bessell-Browne Scholarship will be awarded to a student studying 4th Year in an Undergraduate Education degree in 2011 and who demonstrates a passion for education and a specific interest in reading and literacy.
