The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) seeks to recruit a postdoctoral scientist to conduct research on how integration of water management for different landscape components (livestock, crops, trees, and human settlement patterns) can lead to livelihood and environment benefits in the Nile Basin of Ethiopia. Depending on the profile of the successful candidate this position will contribute to (i) developing scenarios for how landscapes might evolve and the implications for water productivity, ecosystem health and livelihoods (ii) analyzing performance and impact of local learning networks and/or (iii) assess the livelihood and poverty impacts of widespread adoption of different rainwater management strategies to support design of positive strategies. The research will be cross disciplinary involving aspects of livestock production, agronomy, soil science, water management and livelihoods analysis. The research will involve close collaboration with the International Water Management Institute.
