University of California invites pre-dissertation and dissertation research Fellowship in the field of African Studies for the applicants of Africa, 2012

Eligibility:
-The Ezera Fellowship gives priority to graduate students from West Africa who show exceptional promise of advancing scholarship in African Studies in the social sciences, humanities, and public policy and who demonstrate strong leadership potential. Students from other African regions are eligible and are encouraged to apply.
-Students must have been accepted for admission at the University of California at Berkeley when they apply and must be enrolled before funds may be dispersed to them.
-The fellowship is not available to students who are permanent residents or citizens of the United States.
Scholarship Open for International Students: Yes (West Africa)

Fellowships are offered to Africans mainly from Southern and East Africa who have experience in agriculture, food or natural resource exploitation and management; an interest in land reform; and a desire to make a strategic and sustainable contribution to Africa’s development. In short, tomorrow’s innovators and leaders.
Scholarship Open for Students of Following Countries: Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Swaziland, Malawi, Burkina Faso, Mozambique and Cameroon to date.
Since the fellowship programme was launched in 2005, over a million pounds has now been generously provided by donors in support of the programme. This funding has provided for leadership training; the development of professional networks and supporting work experience, together with study opportunities on the master’s programme in International Rural Development at the Royal Agricultural College. Eligibility:
1.Must be a women’s human rights lawyer from Africa.
2.As a requirement of participation in the LAWA Program, all applicants must commit to return home to their own countries upon completion of the Fellowship, and to use their best professional efforts to advance women’s human rights in their counties throughout their careers.
3. Candidates who are awarded a LAWA Fellowship must be prepared to cover the costs of all additional expenses (such as visas, travel, housing, utilities, food, clothing, health insurance, books, fees, etc.), and must be able to demonstrate to the U.S. Embassy for visa purposes that they have the funds available to cover these expenses (over U.S. $25,000).
