The candidate is expected to have a PhD degree and we are looking for a person with a proven publication record within the field of structural dynamics in disordered media and with established experience in conducting synchrotron experiments. A very significant part of the job will be further developing the analysis of time-resolved X-ray data using in-house developed software, so the candidate must have a solid knowledge of scientific programming, preferably in Matlab. As the investigated phenomena take place at the interface between chemistry, physics and materials science, the candidate should have a relevant background in one or more of these fields. The program is primarily designed for undergraduate students, but graduate students, graduating seniors and recent graduates may also apply. Applicants must have German language proficiency at least equal to the “advanced intermediate” level. Applicants should also have a demonstrated interest in Germany and German affairs, i.e. an awareness of current political news coverage of Germany in the American media, and general familiarity with German history, culture and society.

Full-Time Postdoctoral Research Fellowship in Aerodynamics for UK students at University of Southampton, UK 2012

Applicants should have a PhD in Aerodynamics, or a related area, or equivalent working/research experience. An understanding of the mechanics of unsteady aerodynamics and flow control will also be an advantage. The candidate will need experience and a high competency in the design and testing of wind tunnel models and some experience in CFD would also be desirable. Knowledge of flow control will be an advantage.
