Basic entry requirements for PhD studies are:
-a degree at advanced level, courses to an extent of at least 240 credits, of which at least 60 at advanced level in civil engineering, or corresponding proficiencies acquired in Sweden or elsewhere.
-Eligibility to doctoral studentship in Water Resources Engineering requires a M.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering, Enviromental Engineering or corresponding proficiencies.
-In addition, independent thesis work corresponding to 30 credits is required together with courses on advanced level which comprise a relevant foundation for the planned research.
- Finally, it is required that the student is assessed to have the necessary ability to finish the studentship.
- Exemption from the eligibility/entry requirements may be given by the Board of the Engineering Faculty LTH.
Research studies and teaching in a research group with very good reputation in the international research community and with a wide global network. The research studies comprise courses and research involving at least 80% and teaching involving at most 20% of full time. In order to describe how coastal areas are affected by waves and currents it is essential to understand the governing physical processes. The research project encompasses mainly mathematical and numerical modeling of these processes under present as well as future climatic conditions influenced by the so-called green-house effect. The work also includes the implementation of this knowledge into applied projects that are often located in developing countries
