Eligibility:
A Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Cell Biology or Molecular Biology (or related fields). The candidate should have experience with molecular biological techniques (cloning, PCR), protein production and characterization techniques. Affinity with microscopy and spectroscopy is recommended.
The STW-Perspectief programme Nanoscopy: From sharp images to molecular interaction is a large national programme on the development of super-resolution microscopy or ’nanoscopy’ and its applications in biomedical sciences. In the last decade new technologies have been developed that enable achieving resolutions down to 10-50 nm. In contrast, classical microscopy has a limited resolution of ~250 nm. The PhD student will work mainly on two clinical trials: a randomized controlled trial comparing efficacy of VRET treatment with in vivo for social phobia (Part 1) and a clinical trial examining the effectiveness of VRET at home (Part 2).
