2011 ETS Announces TOEFL® Scholarship Program for Chinese Students

Educational Testing Service (ETS), the creator of the TOEFL® test, announced today that the TOEFL Scholarship Program recognizing academic excellence by TOEFL test takers will be offered for the second consecutive year in China. The 2011 TOEFL Scholarship Program will issue awards valued at approximately US$82,500, an increase of more than US$20,000 in award funding over the 2010 TOEFL Scholarship Program. A total of 48 TOEFL scholarships will be awarded to Chinese students demonstrating academic excellence. Three US$5,000 scholarships and 45 US$1,500 scholarships will be presented to Chinese students for academic study in 2011, including in the U.K., Canada and the United States. TOEFL scholarship winners will be notified in May 2011.

The Royal Society of Victoria has established three prestigious prizes open to post-graduate – doctoral students in all areas of Biological, Physical and Earth Sciences. These prizes are designed to recognise good science and proovide students further experience in presenting information to an audience of scientists and the general public on their particular research field. Students have the opportunity, if they wish, to participate in the Society’s mentoring program, whereby they receive mentoring in their chosen field by senior scientists who are Members of the Society.

Syracuse University Announce Alpha Sigma Lambda Scholarship for Undergraduate 2011-2012, USA

Scholarship, leadership, personal statement, faculty recommendation and financial need are the criteria considered in choosing the recipients. Any part-time, undergraduate student at Syracuse University who has achieved the following criteria is eligible to apply, has completed 30 semester hours of graded course work at SU (does not include transfer credit), has achieved a grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale on all work taken at SU, is currently enrolled in a baccalaureate degree program at SU, has a financial need for assistance in completing the degree Note:A student does NOT have to be a member of the Alpha Sigma Lambda chapter at SU to apply. Trinity College Dublin Announce Research Fellowships in the Arts and Humanities 2011-2012

The Trinity Long Room Hub intends to award a number of stipendiary and non-stipendiary fellowships for the academic year 2011-2012 in the arts and humanities at Trinity College Dublin. Applicants for a fellowship should demonstrate how they would spend their time working one or more of the many rich collections within the Library, and/or collaborating with named individuals or groups of individuals within one or more of the constituent departments, schools or research centres linked to the Hub. Applications are welcome from across the entire range of arts and humanities research. The funding for these Visiting Research Fellowships has been provided by the UK Alumni of Trinity College Dublin. As such, at least one of the long-term stipendiary fellowships will be reserved for a British citizen or a long-term resident of the UK (three years or more) who is not a British citizen.
