The specific objective of the 5000 Indigenous PhD Scholarship Scheme is to create a critical mass of highly qualified human resources in all fields of studies taught at the advanced level in local universities.

The Research Training Group SOCLIFE regularly offers scholarships for prospective doctoral students in the social and economic sciences. Selected students will be funded with a scholarship of €1,103 per month for 3 years and provided with travel grants for the visiting of conferences, summer schools etc. During their time at SOCLIFE, doctoral students work in fully equipped offices, have access to all institutions of the University of Cologne, enhance their knowledge through the SOCLIFE course program (all courses offered in English) and benefit from an internal mentoring program. IU Credit Union is offering twelve $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors for the 2011-2012 academic year.
Eligibility Requirements
1. The applicant must be an IU Credit Union member in good standing, or the applicant’s legal guardian must be an IU Credit Union member in good standing, and maintain that membership status throughout the duration of the award. A member in good standing is defined as one who has a minimum balance of $5 in his or her account and has no loan delinquencies.
2. The applicant must be enrolled in or intend to enroll in an undergraduate degree or certificate program at an accredited university, college or vocational program on a full-time basis for the duration of the 2011-2012 academic year.
3. The applicant must have a high school grade point average of 3.25 or more.
4. The applicant must demonstrate leadership skills along with involvement in school and/or community activities.
5. IU Credit Union employees, officials and their immediate family members are not eligible.
