The AFR programme has no thematic limitations and is open to all researchers, regardless of their nationality, desirous to engage into research training in Luxembourg or abroad. ALA has general scholarships that are open to all applicants who have applied for admission to a formal program of library and information studies leading to a master’s degree. ALA also has scholarships people from underrepresented groups, for library support staff, and scholarships for speciality or practice area. ALA General Scholarships include: Marshall Cavendish – this general scholarship of $3,000 was established from donations from the Marshall Cavendish Corporation, Tarrytown, NY, publishers of illustrated reference books for libraries. David H. Clift – this general scholarship of $3,000 was named for a former director of the American Library Association. Christopher Hoy/ERT – this general scholarships of $5,000 was named for a long time ALA staff member who was Director of ALA Conference Services for over 20 years. The Sochon Foundation has generously provided SOAS with one scholarship for students undertaking a full-time post-graduate programme in Korean Studies.The scholarship, valued at £7,000, will be used to off-set the cost of tuition fees and/or provide some support for living expenses. The scholarship is applied to tuition fees in the first instance, any remainder may be considered for living costs.
The Sochon Foundation Scholarship may be held in conjunction with other scholarships. However, please be aware that all financial support secured before 29 April 2011 must be declared to the Advisory Panel in your application. Any awards held will be taken into consideration on assessment of financial need.The scholarship is for one year only. For candidates undertaking an MPhil/PhD programme, the scholarship is not renewable.
