Master Scholarship Programme in Evolutionary Biology for International Students
Erasmus Mundus Master Programme in Evolutionary Biology is a new two-year research oriented master programme for talented and motivated students who are interested in understanding evolution in all its facets. MEME is a joint project between four European universities (University of Groningen, Netherlands; Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich, Germany; Uppsala University, Sweden; University of Montpellier II, France) and Harvard University (USA). Students will start the programme at one of these universities, and will spend at least one semester at a partner university. Upon completion of the program, students will be awarded double or (in some cases) triple degrees from two or three partner universities.
The European Commision will grant a number of scholarships to highly qualified students to participate in the MEME programme. The selection procedure for these scholarships will be carried out by the Admission and Examination Committee of the MEME programme. Each year, a total of 18 – 20 scholarships will be awarded to participating students. There will be 10 scholarships for category A students and 8 scholarships for category B students. Because of an EU initiative named “Western Balkans and Turkey Window”, we will be able to award two additional scholarships to students from the following countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo, Croatia and Turkey. These scholarships will be awarded as category A scholarships.

Call for Proposals for 2011 has gone out to artists all over the world via the Internet. We are planning again to have 3 international artists and 2 Taiwanese artists living and working in Cheng Long Village. There is no entry fee and selected artists receive a stipend, accommodations, meals and more. The selected artists will work with the Cheng Long Elementary School children and community people to create site-specific sculpture installations in the wetlands. This year we hope to have many works in the wetlands themselves and emphasize making the place “greener” – more biodiversity, more sustainability and more green plants for everyone to enjoy as well as beautiful creative artworks

Hongkong Bank Foundation has a long history of supporting educational activities and nurturing young people for the betterment of the community. For the 2011/12 academic year, The Hongkong Bank Foundation is offering the HSBC Overseas Scholarships, at a maximum total value of HK$4,000,000, to selected local full-time undergraduate students. The scholarships will enable the recipients to spend one year of their degree programme at one of the designated overseas universities and return to our University to complete their studies and graduate. The Hong Kong Baptist University will nominate up to two eligible candidates to compete with students from other universities in Hong Kong for the Scholarships.
Each scholarship will cover (1) tuition fees and mandatory college fees, (2) a minimum economy return airfare, and (3) reasonable room and board costs, books, a small portion of living expenses and visa application fees.
